Bradley Grant Smith is a Chicago-bred writer, director, actor, and musician from Highland Park, Il, currently based on Nantucket Island. Our Father, his feature film debut (as writer/director), was nominated for the Grand Jury Award for Narrative Feature at the South by Southwest film festival (SXSW) in 2021 and is currently streaming on Amazon Prime, Fandor, Kanopy, and elsewhere. His music (as Sad Brad Smith) has been praised by the Washington Post, the Wall Street Journal, and the Chicago Tribune, and his song, “Help Yourself,” was featured prominently in the Oscar-nominated film, Up in the Air, starring George Clooney. A graduate of the Theatre School at DePaul University (formerly the Goodman School of Drama) with a BFA in Acting, Brad has previously appeared on-screen for directors Harold Ramis, Bob Odenkirk, Marc Foster, Haroula Rose, and Alex Thompson. He can be seen currently in IFC’s breakout hit film, Ghostlight, directed by Alex Thompson and Kelly O’Sullivan, in theaters right now. Chicago theatre credits include Steppenwolf Theatre Company, Goodman Theatre, Writers Theatre, Jackalope Theatre, among many others. A new album of original songs has been completed and a new film—the comedic thriller Ashby—is in development.
